April was an intense whirlwind of fun and work. In the chaos I forgot to take personal photos until last week when I began a black and white photography class with Michelle Gardella. I also took a black and white workshop taught by the amazing and wonderful Jonathan Canlas at Treehouse in Honolulu. I’ve never met someone so joyous about taking portraits and pushing film. He’s just the best that’s all I can say.

Hawaii has always been a land of vibrant color for me. I’ve fallen in love with the many shades of blue and green and don’t see the landscape in black and white. But now I want to. I just committed to a 100 day project with another group of photographers – 10 minutes a day dedicated to … anything really, for 100 days. It was really hard to choose one thing to focus on because the list of things I would like to do or learn each day seems endless. So here is the start of black and white. But also color, just because.

This post is part of a special collaboration with a group of photographers from around the country. Each month we share a glimpse of our lives. Take a peak and enjoy some beautiful images starting with talaneted Tricia on the east coast to follow the blog circle.
