Honolulu Zoo and waffles, a lesser-known counterpart to chicken and waffles. By the way, if you haven’t been to REAL a Gastropub for their chicken and waffles and tasty beer selection, you’re missing out. Seriously, get on that.
But for now, we’re talking about kid stuff and the zoo is always a winner in our house. Can soothe any cranky kid souls. They love the animals, they love picking which ones they want to look at, Micah loves to navigate with the map, and when you need a break from animals, there’s always the playground. As far as zoos go, it’s nothing special, but the small size is perfect for young kids. We’ve been there so many times, that we’ve seen some really neat animal behaviors over the years. The baboons and hippos are my personal favorites.

Recently I discovered the Kakoa Bar, which is in the Queen Kapiolani Hotel right across from the zoo parking lot. They make the most heavenly waffles. I haven’t even tried their chocolate yet, because I’m in love with those waffles, but I’m thinking it’s time to remedy that. Hmm, maybe it’s time to for another zoo trip …
