Q: How do I schedule my newborn photo session when I don’t know exactly when the baby will be born?
A: Easy! Just tell me your estimated due date and I’ll block off a window of time around that date. Give me a call as soon as your little one arrives and we will set a session date at 5-10 days of age. Babies are extra sleepy and cooperative in this window which is perfect for all those adorable newborn poses! Please don’t wait until your baby is born to book a session. My schedule fills up very quickly and I don’t want you to be left without newborn images.
Q: Where do newborn sessions take place?
A: All newborn photo sessions take place in the comfort of your own home. Kick back and I’ll bring my studio to you. Sessions are slow and relaxed to allow ample time for feedings and comforting and it’s not uncommon for them to last 3 hours. Some parents prefer to watch as a I work, while others take the opportunity for a much needed nap!
Q: Can I request a specific pose?
A: Definitely, but please keep in mind that all my sessions are baby led. Your baby’s safety and comfort are my top priority. I will gently handle and pose them, but if they are not comfortable or I don’t feel a requested pose is safe, I won’t do it.
Q: Are siblings allowed in the photos?
A: Although newborns are the focus of the session, I absolutely love photographing siblings and parents with the new baby and encourage you to do so! In addition to taking beautiful portraits of your sleepy newborn, I love to take a lifestyle approach and capture this wonderful, but brief periods of your lives. Q: Do you have a variety of props to choose from?
A: No. My style is to highlight the natural beauty of newborns using beautiful blankets, wraps, and the occasional hat. I also love to incorporate items from your home that have special meaning to you.
Q: Do you offer maternity sessions?
A: I do! When you book a newborn session with me, you will have the option to add on a mini maternity session. After all, that is the first chapter of your baby’s story! Contact me for more details.
